1. Who we are
byitl (BYITL, LLC) is an engineering studio in Charlotte, North Carolina. This policy covers byitl.com and the information we handle when you contact us or work with us.
2. What we collect
- What you send through the brief form: your name, email, project or company, where you are starting from, your project description and your deadline. The form also sends how you first reached our site and how you reached it this time: the site that linked to us (its name only, not the page), any campaign tags in the link, the page you landed on and the date. Your browser keeps that in its own storage until you send the form.
- What you send through the workflow test on /ai: your name, email, company, the workflow you describe, the tools you list, and how you reached our site (the same details as the brief form above). We keep it until you ask us to delete it.
- What you send us directly: emails, files and project details you share before or during an engagement, including files uploaded to your project page.
- Account details if you sign in to a project page: your email address and sign-in information, handled by our authentication provider.
- Payment details when you pay us. Payments are processed by Stripe; we see that a payment was made, not your card number.
- Usage data from Google Analytics: pages viewed, how you arrived, rough location, device and browser, and which buttons you clicked.
- Calls and texts to our AI receptionist, Avery, at (980) 409-5482: your phone number, what you say or text, and a transcript and recording of the conversation.
3. How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry, scope and quote work, and deliver it.
- To send you project updates, payment links and files.
- To understand which pages are useful and improve the site.
- To score a workflow you send through the workflow test and email you the report.
- To keep our forms free of spam.
- To answer calls and texts to (980) 409-5482 and pass your message on to us.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
4. Services that process it for us
- Amazon Web Services: hosting of project files and sample files, our database, and email delivery (Amazon SES), including the emails the brief form sends us. Workflow test descriptions are analyzed by Anthropic's Claude models running on Amazon Bedrock.
- Microsoft Azure: hosting of the website itself.
- Google: Google Analytics for site usage, reCAPTCHA on our forms, and Google Workspace for our email.
- Clerk: sign-in for project pages.
- Stripe: payments.
- Twilio and ElevenLabs: the phone line (980) 409-5482 (Twilio) and the AI receptionist that answers its calls and texts (ElevenLabs).
We may also share information with professional advisers, or when the law requires it.
5. Cookies
Google Analytics and reCAPTCHA set their own cookies. If you sign in to a project page, our authentication provider sets session cookies to keep you signed in. We set one cookie of our own on visits from our own team's network, so those visits are left out of our analytics. We also keep how you arrived in your browser's local storage, for the brief form and the workflow test described above; it stays in your browser unless you send one of them, and clearing your site data removes it.
6. Emails and unsubscribing
If you received an email from us and don't want more, use the unsubscribe page linked in it, or email hello@byitl.com. Your address goes on a suppression list so we don't email it again.
7. Text messages (SMS)
We only text people who text us first at (980) 409-5482, and only to reply within that conversation. We never send marketing texts. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help; see the SMS terms in our Terms of Service.
Mobile numbers, SMS opt-in data and consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. They are shared only with the service providers that run the line for us (Twilio and ElevenLabs), and never sold.
8. How long we keep it
We keep enquiries, project files and correspondence for as long as we need them to do the work and keep business records. You can ask us to delete them sooner, unless we have to keep them by law.
9. Your choices
- Ask what information we hold about you, and get a copy.
- Ask us to correct or delete it.
- Opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on, or block cookies in your browser.
