Terms of Service

Last updated: July 7, 2026

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

byitl is a hardware design studio in Charlotte, North Carolina. We design prototype enclosures and related hardware deliverables for customer circuit boards. These terms cover your use of byitl.com and any design engagement you purchase from us. By using the site or engaging the service, you agree to them.

2. The service

Our core engagement is flat-fee prototype enclosure design: you send your board files (Gerbers, STEP, DXF, and/or photos) and requirements; we deliver a print-ready enclosure design. A standard engagement includes:

  • Print-ready STL files, oriented for FFF or SLA printing
  • Editable STEP files of the full design
  • Angle renders of the assembled design
  • A priced bill of materials for purchased parts and fasteners
  • Step-by-step assembly instructions

Scope, price, and turnaround for each engagement are stated at the time of order. Where we commit to a delivery deadline, that commitment is backed by the refund term below.

3. Payment and refunds

  • The standard engagement is a flat fee, stated up front. No hourly billing, no surprise line items.
  • The fee is billed in two milestones, each via a payment link we send you: 50% to begin work and 50% after you review and approve the renders. Editable design files are released on final payment.
  • If we miss a committed delivery deadline, your fee is fully refundable — that is the same promise we make on our site, and it is binding here.
  • If you cancel before we begin work, your fee is fully refundable. Once design work has begun, refunds outside the missed-deadline case are at our discretion, in writing.

4. Your files and ownership of the work

  • You retain all rights to the board files and materials you send us. We use them only to perform the engagement and do not share them with third parties.
  • On full payment, ownership of the delivered design files (STL, STEP, renders, BOM, instructions) transfers to you.
  • We retain the right to reuse the generic techniques, templates, and internal tooling used to produce the work.
  • We may show non-confidential renders of completed work in our portfolio unless you ask us not to — just say so in your order notes or any email.

5. Your responsibilities

Our deliverables are only as accurate as the inputs you provide. You are responsible for the accuracy of your board files and requirements, for reviewing deliverables before manufacturing, and for validating prototypes before any production use. Printing and manufacturing outcomes depend on your printer, materials, and settings, which are outside our control.

6. Website use

Site content (copy, renders, sample files) is ours or our customers' and is provided for evaluation of the service. Don't scrape, republish, or resell it. Sample files marked for download may be used to evaluate our output quality.

7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Design deliverables are prototypes and are provided without warranty of fitness for production use. To the maximum extent permitted by law, byitl's total liability for any claim arising from an engagement is limited to the fee paid for that engagement, and byitl is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including manufacturing costs incurred from files you approved.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
